Baby K.’s 36 week pic

4 Sep

Yesterday I had my weekly non-stress test, which went really well. I’ve been having them at 8:00 in the morning for the last month and a half and the baby is usually asleep, so I have to sit there for 45 minutes or so, rolling over, poking my belly and trying to wake him or her up so the test can be done. They’ve been fine, but yesterday’s was the best so far.

After my test, I met with the doctor who informed me that I’ll be induced the week of the 20th! There are 5 doctors at my practice and I see a different one each week, but the doctor I saw yesterday is the one who knows my full history and had finally diagnosed my issues. I had asked one of the other doctors before if I would be induced because I’d read online how women in my situation usually were, and she’d said no, but again, she didn’t know my history. So we’ll schedule the induction date when I go for my appointment on the 17th.

Greg and I were both a little surprised and feeling a little anxious yesterday, realizing we’re only two and a half weeks away from meeting our little one. I had assumed that I’d be having a normal labor and, figuring how first babies are usually late, I just figured we’d have until early October. I was even going to put October 5 down as my guess on my office’s baby pool! So it was a little unsettling to realize that I have to readjust my mental plan of how things are going to go. I’m fine with it, really, I honestly don’t care how the baby gets here as long as it’s healthy and I’m willing to do whatever is best for the baby. I guess I should’ve figured that I wouldn’t have a normal labor since nothing involving my pregnancy has been normal. But, whatever. I was telling Greg that I would’ve asked more questions about inductions at our birthing classes if I’d known. :)

Yesterday afternoon was our last monthly ultrasound (and my 12th ultrasound of this pregnancy) and Baby K. was looking great, if a bit big. The tech said, “I thought you were supposed to be 36 weeks,” because the baby was measuring 37 weeks and was estimated to weigh 6 lb., 8 oz. So maybe it’s a good thing I’ll be induced early!

Below are a couple of pictures from the ultrasound. The baby had its hand up in front of its face and it’s getting so crowded in there that it was hard to get a good image, but you can tell that the baby’s face is definitely filling out even more!
