Week 40

30 Sep

Yesterday was the official due date of Baby K (aka Miles) and so we thought it was only appropriate to post one more profile picture of Leah.

Miles’ weekend at home

29 Sep

Miles is now officially a week old and he continues to keep us busy.  Last night he went to bed well for the first time and he likes to wake up every couple hours for a feeding.  Yesterday was his first doctor’s appointment and he’s continuing to put on a weight, only 3.5 ounces below his birth weight.  This past weekend he got to meet his Auntie Dayna, Grandpa Russ and Great-Grandma Marie.  Below are some pictures from the weekend.

Miles and mommy come home

24 Sep

At noon today, Leah and baby Miles were released from the hospital. The car ride home went well and the kittens were pretty curious about the new family member. Everyone enjoyed seeing Miles at the hospital and my parents drove up for a couple days and Leah’s mom is staying with us for awhile to help out.

Leah made it through the labor very well even though it went much faster than expected, 6 hours from the start of labor to delivery! The nurses and doctor on-call were very surprised and somewhat caught off-guard because it was assumed that things were going to take at least a day or two. The delivery was pretty intense and very miraculous. It’s nice being home and not having any nurses coming in at all hours of the night and being able to sleep in our own bed. Here’s a few more pics from the time at the hospital and our first day home.

Welcome to the world

22 Sep

After several months of anxiety, we’d like to introduce Miles Gregory Kretovic. He was born this morning, September 22nd, at 2:56 a.m. He weighed 7lbs. 1oz. and measured 19 1/4 in. long.  The labor went really fast and Leah did a wonderful job. Her and the baby are doing well. Here’s some early pictures:

38th week, 1 to go

15 Sep

Sorry it’s been a while since we posted, things have been pretty busy around here. If you read the previous posting then you know that next week Leah will be induced. Everything is pretty much set to go and we’ve been trying to enjoy our last days of being alone :) . We had a good Labor Day weekend in Nahma and Leah had her final baby shower where 48 people attended! We also won first place in the annual Labor Day parade with our luau float. (We hope to get some photos posted soon.) Last week I painted the baby’s dresser and the nursery is pretty much done except for the bare walls.

This past Sunday night we discovered our septic was backing up into the basement. That was not a fun discovery! Fortunately, Leah had done laundry, so it wasn’t too big of a mess (if you know what I mean). I ended up staying home yesterday and had a plumber come by to grind out the roots growing in the septic pipe. Everything seems good to go now.

Below are some pics of the baby’s room and Leah’s 38 week picture (her final one!).
