Pomeroy 4-wheeling weekend
28 Sep
This past weekend was the annual 4-wheeling trip that I’ve attended for the last several years. This year we headed to the western U.P. between Bergland and Ontonagon. Leah’s cousin lives in the area so he brought down his camper and helped us find a campsite. It felt like luxury sleeping indoors as opposed to a tent like in past years.
The weather started out extremely warm on Friday and was close to 80°. The trails were pretty dry and dusty which made it hard to breathe and see. Our only mishap of the trip was also on this day. Leah’s brother Justin got dumped from his ATV because of a rut in the trail. He suffered some road rash but luckily no major injuries. On Saturday, it was wet from heavy overnight rain and was misty and foggy in the afternoon and evening. During the morning ride we rode to the top of a quarry called Mount Baldy and saw a spectacular view of area. We could see the Porcupine Mountains, Lake Superior as well as all of the trees changing color. The riding that day was really muddy and fun. The ground in that area is mostly clay so everyone was pretty dirty and it was hard to just walk around in it. That afternoon we went back to the quarry to shoot some clay pigeons, another annual trip event. That’s always entertaining and today my shoulder is feeling the effects. This morning we went for another long ride and found some new trails and by 2 p.m. we were packed and heading back home. Over the course of the weekend, we rode a total of 130 miles and had a great a time.

This past weekend was the wedding of Greg’s oldest brother Chris to Leah’s friend/neighbor Theresa. It was a great time and went by extremely fast with both of us in the wedding party. We took a few extra days off to spend time with our families and friends that traveled to the U.P. On Friday morning, many of guys in the wedding party went golfing and Greg was able to again beat everyone in his family.
