The streak continues

13 Feb

This past weekend we attended our first NMU hockey game of the year and they managed to beat Mich. State, a pretty good team. Over the last couple of years, every game we’ve attended they’ve won. Now we haven’t gone to that many but they do look good when we’re there. We’ve come to the conclusion that we should contact the team about our luckiness and be given free season tickets. It could be their key to a National Championship.

bluegill.jpgOn Saturday, we ice fished on Engman Lake and did pretty well. We caught some decent-sized bluegills and Leah managed to catch the biggest fish (oh, yeah! I rock!). Her bluegill was a hog measuring in at 8 inches. This has been two times in a row now with the big fish.

This weekend is the U.P. 200 dog sled race and we’re planning to attend the start, in downtown Marquette, on Friday. A unique experience if you haven’t seen it. Here are the pics from last year’s start.

Stay tuned for changes

If you’ve been noticing that this blog page keeps changing its appearance, it’s because we’re in the middle of redesigning our site and the coding changes seem to have given this page a mind of its own.

So you will (hopefully) be seeing a new look to the site soon!

Floor mats – more than meets the eye

6 Feb

If you’re ever stuck on a icy, snow-covered driveway with no one to help push… try your floor mats. That’s what I had to use yesterday. I couldn’t get out of the back-in part of our driveway and had no traction on the ice below the new, wet snow. I put a floor mat in front and behind the spinning tire and slowly worked my way to level ground.

Leah was nice enough to come back, after she had already left, but I was unstuck. She then stood at the end of the driveway and signaled me when the traffic was clear. With a twenty yard start I baja’d through the end of our plugged driveway and was only 30 minutes late for work.

Who needs four-wheel-drive?
