Hello, fall (and other assorted musings)

26 Sep

I am sad that it’s fall. It’s not that I hate fall, I really actually like it. What I hate is that it means that winter is right around the corner, and I hate winter. So, so much. I read somewhere that this winter is supposed to be really bad. But they say that every year, and then someplace else says how it’s supposed to be a mild winter, so who to believe? I guess winter is just winter. It’s cold and snowy and the roads are icy, so I should just get over it, right?

There’s really not much new with us. Mainly work and work and more work. Oh! I’m taking piano lessons, did I mention that? I took lessons back when I was 8 or so, but I hated it. This time around it’s much more fun. And I’m actually practicing. I hated practicing when I was little, but when you’re 8, you pretty much hate anything that you HAVE to do, right?

Let’s see, what else is new? Um… Well, this isn’t news, but it is new. I went a little bit crazy at Kohl’s today and bought a ton of new stuff for the bathroom (shower curtain, rug, soap and toothbrush holders). Just wait until Greg sees the receipt for that. (Hi, Greg! Love you!) I can’t wait, I repeat, CAN’T WAIT until we own our own house. I am SO SICK of all-white walls and not putting things on the walls because we’d have to patch all of the holes. As soon as we move into our own house I am painting the walls in actual colors. We will not have any white walls in our house. And we can plant trees and bushes in the yard and change the carpet and paint kitchen cabinets… it will be so nice.

Alas, the onset of winter means we need to buy Greg a new vehicle. His poor Smurf-blue truck has pretty much had it. We’re looking for something with 4-wheel drive for him, what with his drive to Munising every day. But Greg is so, so picky. If I haven’t mentioned that before, and if you are surprised to learn that about Greg, it’s true. He will look at 50 different trucks and find itty-bitty things wrong with each one. Finally I’ll get frustrated and tell him to PICK ONE ALREADY! and he’ll pick one completely different from everything he’d said he wanted. But I love him anyway, even if he does make me gnash my teeth and roll my eyes sometimes.

Well, that’s about it for now. Oh, and a big CONGRATULATIONS to our biggest fan! You’ll have to make your own blog like Stacey’s so we can follow along with you.

We’re still alive

Things have been pretty busy around here and updating our website hasn’t been a priority. We have lots of pictures to add from Greg’s brother visiting, the Nahma Labor Day weekend and Greg’s parents visiting this past weekend. If you check Leah’s photoblog then you’re probably up-to-date on this. Hopefully, we’ll get back on track soon.

The weather has gone from warm summer temperatures to instant fall. The temperature has been hovering in the 50s this week and we actually turned on the furnace this morning because it was a cool 62° in the house. The fire ban has been lifted around here as we have received quite a bit of rain in the last couple weeks.
