Well, I’ve been back from Texas for two weeks now, and I’ve finally gotten around to writing about my trip. It was a lot of fun, but a lot of work, too. It’s amazing how tiring it is spending your days talking to strangers about products your company sells. This is why I’m not in sales.
I didn’t really get to do any sight-seeing because the trade show took up a lot of time. When we did have a break, all I wanted to do was rest my poor feet. But the temperatures were wonderful. One day we were there, the record high of 81° was tied. That was so nice. We did get down to Billy Bob’s, the World’s Largest Honky Tonk, to see some live bull riding. That was pretty neat. I took some video with my camera which you can see here.
One of the social events at the show was a trip to a ranch where we had the best barbecue I’ve ever had. I would move to Texas just for the barbecue. I wasn’t sure I’d like it, but I had like 3 helpings. The band that was there taught us to do some kind of line dance, and Janice took some pictures of me.
One of the exhibitors at the show was a grain bin rescue group that teaches how to rescue people from grain bins. They asked me to be a volunteer victim, so I got to wear a sweet white jumpsuit, harness and hardhat. Check it out. The group is being featured in a grain magazine and the photographer was there taking pictures of me being rescued. I’ll scan that and put it on here when it comes out.
Because a lot of business is conducted in the bars after the show closes for the day, I drank way too much wine, as you can probably tell from my goofy smile. You can see more pictures from my trip here.
