RIP, Arthur
20 Feb
We are sad to announce that Arthur James, our albino gerbil, has died. We’re not certain of the cause, but he was looking a little down last night and when we woke up this morning, he had died. Gilbert seems a bit confused by Arthur not being there, so we’ll have to see how he does. Gerbils on their own can become depressed, especially if they’ve lost a partner. The lifespan of a gerbil is 2-4 years, and Arthur was 2 1/2. He was a good gerbil and we’ll miss him very much.

I am so sorry about Gilbert!! Arthur must be devastated!! You may have to get him a companion. What did you do with the body? You may have to stick him in the freezer until the ground thaws.
Leah, I am sorry about Arthur, not Gilbert!! I got mixed up.
Fran just told me a story about her son’s girlfriend’s gerbil who got loose, ran in the basement and ate mouse poison. He died, too.
Wow, that’s horrible! When we had mice in the house, I was always worrying that one of the gerbils would get out and get caught in a mouse trap. Poor Gilbert. He was the less dominant one, so I’m not sure how he’ll do on his own.
