Say Cheese!

31 Jan

I got a new camera! It’s pretty cool. I’m doing a project this year where you take a picture every day for the whole year. Then at the end, you make a collage or photobook or whatever of all of the pictures. I thought it sounded like fun, but I’m finding that some days it’s 9:00 at night and I realize that I didn’t take my picture for the day.

Anyway, this new camera has a movie feature on it, so I took a short video of the gerbils. It’s pretty lame. Just mute it so you don’t have to hear my stupid commentary. :) Here’s the movie.

[UPDATE: I made a photo blog so that you can view my 365 pictures. You can find it here.]

Fish Beware.

25 Jan

Well today my ice fishing became a little more advanced and hopefully more productive. I bought a digital fish finder, made by Lowrance, and can’t wait to use it this weekend. We’ll see if I have better luck and hook the big monster. You can see a picture of it here. As you can see on our homepage, we’re finally getting snow. This weekend we’re supposed to get some heavy lake effect so that should add to our yearly total. I’ll update in a couple days to let you know how the new technology works!

Forecast?

15 Jan

I thought this was funny. I must have visited the weather site while they were in the process of updating it, because this was the forecast that showed up. Brrr! Thankfully, it’s not really supposed to be that cold.

Winter is Back

14 Jan

It looks like winter is back in the U.P. We now have some snow on the ground here in Marquette and the forecast is calling for snow the rest of the week. There’s actually a lake effect snow warning posted for tonight and tomorrow and we’re supposed to get between 5-12 inches. It should be a fun drive tomorrow.

In other news, today Leah and I went bowling and I managed to set a new personal record. In the first game I bowled a 195 and then the second game I rolled a 234! It was a pretty cool experience and very nerve racking. My previous record was 177, so I pretty much blew that away. By the third game I felt pretty drained and only managed a 149. All-in-all, a pretty good day.

Hogmanay Weekend

3 Jan

[Let's all be Scottish for awhile. Hogmanay is a much more fun word than New Year's. --Leah]

Another three day weekend! Yay! And the last day off of work for quite awhile, sadly enough. Although really, we all should have the day after New Year’s Day off to fully recover. Anyway, our weekend was a lot of fun.

Saturday night we went to Greg’s cousin Caleb’s third birthday party. That was fun and funny. Caleb got a sweet pair of cowboy boots as one of his gifts. He also blew out his birthday candles (on his very nicely decorated cake :-) ) too early, so there was a redo so that we could take some pictures. See more pictures from the party here.

Sunday we headed down to Leah’s grandma’s house for New Year’s Eve. We went to Mac’s Bar where Leah’s cousin Levi’s band was playing. That was fun, although the evening seemed to go by quickly. After a stop at Johnny’s Boathouse Lounge, we didn’t get to bed until 3:30 in the morning. Leah’s grandma hung with us the whole time, although she wasn’t doing shots like she was a few years ago. You can see the rest of the pictures here.

We hope that 2007 is a good year for everyone, and that all of your resolutions come to pass. We have vowed to get in shape this year, although we’ll have to wait and see how that goes.
